IF you join a gym for the first time, you may be overwhelmed by the number of exercise machines there. Even if you are a regular user of gyms, every gym has different machines and you may encounter a machine you have never used before. This happens to me all the time.
If you have never worked out in a gym before, as part of the familiarisation process, I recommend you try out all the machines in your first visit. That’s right. Use them all in one go. Do all the exercises. Push and pull on every machine. Why, you ask? Isn’t that too much on a first visit?
It won’t be too much if you keep the weight very low and do not attempt to work out the muscle. The goal is not to tire the muscle but just to get familiar with how the machine feels to you, how comfortable you are doing some movements and making sure you do these movements the right way. Remember, you are learning something new. So try it out but take it easy. That in itself should be enough of a workout for you on the first day.
Don’t attempt to do any serious exercise the first time. It is just the time to get familiar with your new environment. You don’t want to feel muscular pain in every body part the next day when you wake up.
